Alliance Française in South Africa

Alliance Française was established in 1883 in Paris by eminent figures of the arts, the sciences, and politics to ensure the influence of the French language and culture around the world.

Alliance Française is the world’s largest French teaching centre with over 1,000 schools in 134 countries, serving over 350 000 students, sponsored by the French government.

Alliance Française in South Africa provides :

[+] French language training centres in South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho teaching French from beginners to business French to over 5,000 students a year, by more than 100 teachers. Alliance Française also offers a variety of workshops that make the learning experience more fun (French through music, French cuisine, theater, travel...) as well as special programs for youngsters, from toddlers to teenagers.

[+] A wide-ranging performing arts program presenting a unique mix of theare, music, visual arts and dance, with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in partnership with local companies or cultural bodies. See our program.

[+] state-of-the-art libraries , offering thousands of volumes, multimedia volumes (video and audio tapes, DVDs, CDs) ; computer stations and video monitors ; as well as a self-learning centre and the French press.

The association Alliance Française in South Africa

The association Alliance Française in South Africa is a state-approved public benefit organization, established since 1936 in South Africa (Durban). A local committee, representing cultural, scientific and economic interests, supported by the French Embassy in South Africa, administers it.
