Famous fashion designers get mobilized for women living with HIV/AIDS in South-Africa and dress an Ithemba Lightbulb
Ithemba, designing hope...
Ithemba means hope in Xhosa, one of the languages spoken in the Cape area in South Africa. Ithemba is the first stage of an adventure to bridge the gap between creativity, craft and humanitarian action :
A line of objects is being designed, inspired by local culture, handmade by people affected by poverty and AIDS and distributed on the web and through a network of shops.

Ithemba has become an income generating activity for 40 women in Africa, bringing a beter living for themselves and their children.
Some designers involved in Ithemba : AGNÈS B., CACHAREL, CALVIN KLEIN, CHRISTIAN LACROIX, JEAN-CHARLES DE CASTELBAJAC, NINA RICCI, PACO RABANNE, SONIA RYKIEL, THIERRY MUGLER...
Benefits of this operation will enable the association “Dessine l’Espoir” to pursue its action in Africa, financing anti retro-viral treatments, awareness campaigns and bringing psychological support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
