Concert : "Simba Met The Rocats"

Saturday 14 August - 10:30 pm
Zula Sound Bar, 194 Long Street, Cape Town

From Rap, a musical style claiming its return as a social and cultural instrument in this Global Village we live in, surfing through Pop Rock, Samba, Funk, Afrobeat, Reggae with a strong jazzy influence, the band takes you on a real musical trip where harmonies are the only boundaries for creative possibilities.
“Simba met the Rocats” was created in early 2007 when members from “The Rocats”, a Maputo based dub band, joined forces with Simba, a solo Rap artist, to create unique and distinctive sounds that, in a certain way, challenge common musical language.
The group went to a studio to compose new songs and immediatly after that they started “touring” the town, playing sometimes in small and often in big venues with friends and other bands. It didn’t take them long to shape their identity and the band was invited to perform in South Africa for the first time in July 2007.
Following the success of the first gig, they were invited to perform at the Oppikoppi festival and at the UMOJA Africa New year Concert. Adding a strong visual identity (video projections) to their shows, the band’s performances are always filled with entertainment.
