Exhibition : About Town by Béatrice Garrouste

ABOUT CITY

The Alliance Française of Johannesburg is proud to invite you to the exhibition of Béatrice Garrouste "About city".

Living in JHB for some years, Béa Garrouste fell in love with the city : vibrant, busy, lively , and full of contrasts. Ever curious, and without any preconceptions or “message”, she went walking around everywhere she could, as a neutral and empathetic spectator, watching, observing, listening, smelling, feeling , and… trying to understand what she was looking at : the character of the city. In her paintings, she transcribes these feelings, images, locations, the memory of impromptu in a spontaneous, colorful, optimistic and almost naïve style. Urban perspectives, landmarks, buildings, skies, street people, combine to evoke many aspects which make up this kaleidoscope which is the city of Joburg.

Perception and style are definitely “frenchy”.

Béa Garrouste only discovered painting recently. But it quickly became a true passion, in which she now spends most of her time. For her, it is a good way to observe the world around, and translate her love for live.
