About the artists :
Yvonne Sommeling
Yvonne Sommeling is of Dutch Indonesian descent, her Great Uncle was Jan Toorop, the first Dutch Symbolist and Art Nouveau painter. She is a painter of African realism, capturing the essence of her subject whether it be sadness, dignity, joy or wisdom. She is fascinated by African culture and recently had the honour to be commissioned to paint Nelson Mandela for the re-opening of Mandela House in Soweto.

Sarah Haines
A love of the artistic drawing process has drawn Johannesburg based Sarah Haines back to the walls of the gallery. Sarah started her career as artist, educator and illustrator in 1981, and her work featured in private and public collections and publications. For the past 15 years, Sarah has been primarily involved in exhibition and interpretive design in the museum and heritage industry ; this is her first public exhibition in that time.
