Open-air screening : Hungry ? on Saturday 4th July from 7 pm

Screening of The Secret of the Grain, directed by Abdellatif Kechiche

“An entire family chronicle, along with four decades of French social and economic history, is recapitulated as a lavish, hectic dinner, complete with music and belly dancing. It will leave you stunned and sated, having savored an intimate and sumptuous epic of elation and defeat, jealousy and tenderness, life and death, grain and fish.” The New York Times

Alliance Française of Johannesburg, Saturday, from 7pm, followed by an initiation to belly dance.

If you are a food fanatic, be sure not to miss the second edition of DIBUKAs’ open air screenings, at the Alliance Française of Johannesburg ! HUNGRY ? is this seasons theme, where you will find lots of mouth watering delicacies , from our selection of films dedicated to food, drinks and gastronomy. For this first edition, HUNGRY ? will highlight Middle Eastern food and culture.

On the menu, traditional couscous, with steaming lamb, vegetables or chicken, will be on offer, providing a perfect antidote to the wintry evening.

And to turn the heat on, Dancers of the Desert, one of the best known and most reputable belly dance studios currently in South Africa will initiate guests to the ancient, mysterious and beautiful art of Belly Dancing.

So come along on the 4th of July 2009, and savor the award winning French director Abdellatif Kechiche’s last movie ‘The Secret of the Grain’.
