- During 2007 the Alliance Française Pretoria was in a turmoil of bricks, cement, mortar, steel pylons and glass. All this was the beginning of new class rooms and our long awaited for library. These additional buildings have been constructed with steel and glass encircling the gigantic jacaranda tree which was saved from being chopped down. The new library is 60 square meters in size with large windows on two sides affording a view of the jacaranda and ancient ficus, and stepping on to a wooden deck where tea and coffee are served. The natural sunlight pours in through the windows making the library bright and alive. The interior is well equipped with dark wooden shelving, computers, photocopier and printer.
