Karl Gietl was born in the Cape province of Woscester in 1970. He first began exhibiting in 1994. Since then he has exhibited extensively, both localy and internationaly. In 1998, Karl Gietl won the Volkskas Atelier Award which gave him the opportunity to live and work in Paris. Between 1999 and 2002 Gietl lived, traveled and exhibited in France, Holland and Belgium. After a short stay in Spain, he returned to South Africa at the beginning of 2003. Karl Gietl now lives and works in Troyeville, Johannesburg. Official website : www.karlgietl.com

Karl Gietl est né à Wocester en 1970. Sa première exposition date de 1994 ; depuis il expose en Afrique du Sud et dans le monde entier. En 1998, Karl remporte le Volkskas Atelier Award qui lui offre l’opportunité de vivre et de travailler à Paris. Entre 1999 et 2002, Karl vit, travaille et expose en France, aux Pays-Bas et en Belgique. Après un court séjour en Espagne, il retourne en Afrique du Sud au début de l’année 2003.
