Beaucoup de gens à Gaborone attendent avec impatience la Fête de la Musique fin juin. Ce grand concert est en effet devenu un évènement annuel ancré dans le paysage culturel local. Cette année, le concert aura lieu le 21 juin à .... Maitisong !! Merci à Maitisong de nous prêter son hall pour organiser la Fête de la Musique 2008. Les partenaires locaux sont en effet de plus en plus nombreux à soutenir notre Fête : la Délégation de la Commission Européenne au Botswana et le Ministère des Finances sont cette année les sponsors principaux de l’évènement. N’oublions pas toutefois de remercier les entreprises françaises du Botswana qui sponsorisent également le concert : Orange, AGS Frasers, Merial. La Fête de la musique : what is it ?
The Fête de la Musique is a French event brought to Botswana by the Alliance Française several years ago. This event was created in France in 1982 to allow all musicians, professional and non professional, to play music in the streets on a special day, the 21st of June (the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere).
Here in Botswana, the Alliance Française is trying to organize the same event, though it will be on Saturday the 21st of June. The concept of the event is very simple : we are looking for volunteer musicians to perform for free, as the concert is also free for the audience.
