Meddy Gerville, from French-speaking Réunion Island, is bringing us a fantastic jazz quartet for one single concert in Johannesbourg - not to be missed !!... This project, after the artists’ residence in Réunion Island, is a sophisticated blend of jazz harmonies infused with complex rhythms of Maloya - “the blues of Reunion”. It is based on the eclectic talents of Meddy Gerville (piano), Dominique di Piazza on bass (one of the best specialists of the instrument, simply amazing !), Jean-Marie Ecay on guitar, a famous musician from the French Jazz stage and Horacio « El Negro » Hernandez, a Cuban drummer who played with the likes of Mc Coy Tyner, Michel Camilo, etc. McCoy Mrubata is one of Mzanzi’s finest and favourite saxophonists. His versatility on the tenor, soprano and alto saxophones will blow your mind and what he does on the flute will amaze you. He is celebrated locally and has received much international acclaim. He has collaborated with a superb array of well known artists such as Pops Mohammed, Paul Hamner, the late Sipho Gumede and Andile Yenana to name a few.
