"Our eyes are a lot more than recepteurs for the lights, the colours and the lines, it is necessary sometimes to learn how to see".
Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908-1961)
"Natural Ecstasy"
Opening evening on
Thursday 8th February 2007 18:30
The photographs taken by photographer, Philippe Marinig, bring to mind sensuous feelings of pleasure without a chemical intoxicant ; as the title suggests, a natural ecstasy.
Forms seem to slip and slide into and out of each other, like embracing couples. Everything is in a continuous state of flux, an ebb and flow ready to meet. As an ensemble, the images work like a huge canvas, but each retains its individuality. Some work like surrealist images in a Salvador Dali manner, at other times like cubists George Braque and Picasso.
These aerial photographs are slices of “Natural Ecstasy” from nature, which pay tribute not only to nature, but to an excellent photographer who helps the viewer see the world in which we live in a heightened and keener sense of awareness. Just take time to look and see, take a seat with this new breed of birds-eye photographs.
