’Nhanssalà’ (very, very crazy in Mozambican), a project gathering together the ’Urbs’ and ’Lutherie Urbaine‘, was elaborated during residences in Mozambique before the first creation was presented at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre of Maputo, in November 2004. The ’Urbs’, four young musicians of the Seine Saint-Denis (France), and ’Moz’Urbs’, ten Mozambican artists and the great singer Sandro Valadas decided to work together. The concept is to use recycled materials such as bicycle pumps, scaffolding, colanders, pipes, washing machines, pots, pans, etc...to create original, urban musical instruments with which to play their compositions. This musical ensemble which mixes the use of percussions, makeshift and classical instruments such as guitar, bass, flute, etc, has given birth to a musical creation as rich as fascinating. This band will perform in Mozambique, Swaziland, South Africa and Namibia.
