On the occasion of the celebration of “Francophonie”, the Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa, Pro Helvetia and the Alliance Française in Pretoria cordially invite you to the screening of two short films by Olivier Sillig, followed by a discussion / debate with the author. Olivier Sillig has been a rather eclectic artist, being a painter, a film director and now, more and more, a writer. He will present two short films, Umbo & Samuel (a seven year-old kid finds himself locked up with Umbo the Wolof. Three meters above the floor, a small window can be seen, but to escape Samuel must be helped by Umbo) and Samb and the police inspector (on the Swiss National day, August 1st, police inspector Knöbel is being disturbed for a minor story, that of a stolen football. He will then be confronted with a ten year-old African boy). Olivier Sillig will also read passages from his literary works before debating with the audience.
Films in French with English subtitles, debate with the author in French.
