Soweto

Founded in 1982, the Alliance Française in Soweto gives France an opportunity to be present in this historical township.

In July 2008, Rama Yade, the Deputy Minister for Human Rights, inaugurated the re-opening of the Alliance Française. This particular Alliance Française is intended to serve as a basis for different interventions of the French cultural network in this township.

The Alliance Française de Soweto is part of a big network of about 19 branches in the Southern part of Africa, therefore there are many opportunities to meet other people with a common view and common vision.

The Alliance Française of Soweto has a creative space for organizations to showcase their works. We create a platform for these organizations to meet and interact with other organisations and partner with them.

Established in South Africa since 1936 and supported by the ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Alliance Française network is a relay of the linguistic and cultural policy defined by France.
