Exams to immigrate to Canada, Quebec & France

If you are applying to immigrate to Canada and want to be tested to gain formal recognition for your competency in the French language, you can choose from a range of evaluation options offered by the Alliance Française du Cap. 

Please note that no exam sessions will be organised in December 2017.

  • Immigration to Canada

The TEF (Test d'évaluation de français) is composed of two parts:

  1. Written and oral comprehension & vocabulary tests: 2h10 (900 points)
  2. Written and oral production: 1h15 (900 points)

At the Alliance Française du Cap there is a TEF Canada session on the last Thursday of every month

To register, simply download our terms and conditions as well as a registration form and return it, along with your proof of payment for R3700, to Laura Tranier at exams.cpt@alliance.org.za.

Kindly note that you must register at the latest 10 working days prior to the test date. You will also need to provide a copy or scan of your passport.

  • Immigration to Quebec

The TEFAQ (Test d'évaluation de français adapté au Québec) is composed of two parts:

  1. Oral comprehension: 40 minutes (360 points)
  2. Oral production: 20 minutes (450 points)

At the Alliance Française du Cap there is a TEFAQ session on the third Thursday of every month

To register, simply download our terms and conditions as well as a registration form and return it, along with your proof of payment for R1800, to Laura Tranier at exams.cpt@alliance.org.za.

  • French naturalization

The TEFNAT (Test d'évaluation de Français pour l'accès à la naturalisation française) is for those who would like to apply for French citizenship. The details of this test are exactly the same as for the TEFAQ (see above).
