TORDRE by Rachid Ouramdane

Dance

A DUET, TWO SOLI, FOR TWO WOMEN
A DIPTYCH OF TWO INTIMATE AND MODEST PORTRAITS IN WHICH THE INVISIBLE EMERGE FROM THE SURFACE OF THE MOVE

After an epic opening of determinedly false starts a series of impassioned solos follows, but nothing is quite what it seems. Solid sculptures start to move, gentle spinning becomes a dangerous compulsion, and calm is interrupted. It is Annie Hanauer and Lora Juodkaite’s distinctive physicalities that finally unite them in these raw and captivating self-portraits, threaded with emotion.
French Algerian Rachid Ouramdane is co-director of CCN2-Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble. His work frequently blurs the lines between dance and documentary, between public performance and private contemplation – achieved here with a refreshing simplicity of means.
