More about the band:
Usiba Noncwadi is a 4 piece soul band with a touch of hip hop. Usiba Noncwadi is often stylized as "USBNCWD”. The band's music is mostly soul, with a touch of jazz and hip-hop. The lyrics are 90% Xhosa and 8% English and 2% basically, humming and wailing. The band is made up of four members, Ohayv Ahbir on voice and keys, Seemkhai onguitar, Yahav on drums and Syfo Matshitshi on bass. Since they first came out, circa mid-2005, they have graced big stages around Port Elizabeth and the Eastern Cape. Opening act for Metro FM awards in 2006, sharing stages and opening up for George Benson in Port Elizabeth, Hugh Masekela, Ntando, Freshly ground, Proverb, PROkid, Gloria Bosman, and many more. Sadly, the band disbanded in 2011 to pursue solo careers in different fields of expertise. But it was in 2016 that people across South Africa were overwhelmed by the news that Usiba Noncwadi is back... Since return, the band has performed at The Annual Richmond Hill Street Music Festival 2016 in Port Elizabeth that the Alliance Française organises.
